The Envy CG department has worked on a stereoscopic title sequence to appear within the 3D feature film Horrid Henry which will be in the cinemas from the 29th of July.
The film is the first British kids’ film to be shot in stereo and sees Horrid Henry, commander in chief of the Purple Hand Gang, locked in his ever raging battle with Adultkind, and it seems like this time the adults really are playing for keeps! The movie stars Anjelica Huston, Richard E Grant, Noel Fielding, Prunella Scales and Matthew Horne, and is directed by BAFTA-nominated Nick Moore.
The brief presented to Envy was to create the titles for ‘2 Cool 4 School’; a game show filled with gunge and goo that Henry and his friends take part in during the finale of the film. Working with designs created by director Brian Eley, the CG team created a vibrant, frenetic sequence, designed to whip the studio audience into a frenzy.
The sequence provided an excellent opportunity to use 3D in a way that wouldn't work in other situations - the energetic, brash and over-the-top style was the perfect foundation for some eye-popping stereoscopic effects.
