ENVY Attends 2023 RTS Futures Careers Fair

20 February 2023

The Royal Television Society Futures Careers Fair took place on the 7th February at London’s Business Design Centre. It’s the first in-person fair since 2019, over 40 companies were present to meet the next generation of TV talent, which included all areas of the industry from production and education to post production and broadcasters.

Team ENVY attended for our 8th year, and it was great to meet students in person once again. One of the biggest questions asked was how to make the vital first steps into the industry and how to land that first big job; we had Runners and former Runners on hand to share their advice and wisdom with those wanting to learn more about post production, drawing on their own experiences when making the step up from education into work and their progression at ENVY. We also had a number of enquiries about entry level jobs at ENVY as well as our popular ‘Work Experience scheme’.

The Careers Fair provided students and those new to the TV industry a chance to ask industry professionals any questions about making a start in the industry and well as what employers look for in new recruits. There were also a variety of talks covering a mixture of topics including deep dives into popular TV shows and stories from the industry to help inspire and introduce new areas of television to the next generation.

Over 100 Applications

Since making its return in summer 2022, our Work Experience scheme has accommodated over 35 placements, giving young people a taste of how a Post Production facility operates on a day-to-day basis and how all the different departments work together to create the final shows you watch on TV. We have had over 100 applications for our work experience scheme from individuals we met at the RTS Futures Careers Fair and we look forward to welcoming many of them for a week long placement between now and the end of 2023.
"The RTS Futures Careers Fair never fails to impress and connect us with the industry's next wave of talent. There are many current staff that met ENVY at this event in years gone by, so it really has proven to be a superb initiative to be part of."
